aspic

December 2nd, 2005 at 22:56 (1930s)

This lion made of aspic should be the highlight of a dinner held for some British aristocrats. Not only does this lion get dropped on the ground and is destroyed but the British aristocrats also cancel their appearance. So Millicent, who organizes the dinner at her home, is at the verge of a nervous breakdown and has to cope with a man who smells Oklahoma. Actually her husband has a breakdown due to cardiac insuffiency. The film we’re looking for has an all-star cast but didn’t receive any Academy Award nominations when it was released.

Polly Byrnes

This one should be easier to guess than the Bella Spruce post. Both Polly Byrnes and Robert Landis actually play in the movie you should guess. Polly sings two songs in the movie Smoke Dreams and Blow That Horn.
And if you don’t know it already, I’m sure you know it after reading the following quote:

“You see, when it comes to words like that, an illiterate person…”
“Whaddaya mean “illiterate”? My father and mother were married right here in the city hall!”
