Hugo Matuschek

December 9th, 2005 at 19:16 (1940s)

That’s Hugo Matuschek in front of his department store in Budapest, Hungary. The movie we’re looking for was remade a few years ago with a different title and actors I only know by name (now that’s a hint…ha, ha, ha). I’ve never seen the newer version. Why should I when the original is so brilliant? And besides most of the new films aren’t filmed in black and white.

  1. “The shop around the corner”

I agree with you, Mr. Asta, that “You’ve got mail” wasn’t nearly as good, but wait till you see the version I’ve been working on these couple of years. It just might be my ticket to fame. I seem to be stuck just after the “Are you disappointed?” line. I’ve got about a million versions but can’t find the right one.

  2. …a couple of years? That sounds like an awful long time…maybe you should try a new, original plot first?
oh, and right again…it’s Lubitsch’s Shop Around The Corner.
